About Pharmacy Museum

The Pharmacy Museum brings to life the history of Kyiv’s first private pharmacy. Located in Podil, near Kontraktova Ploshcha metro station, it offers a look into 300 years of pharmacy history, from old equipment and historic recipes to the pharmacy’s underground chambers.

Museum highlights

  • The pharmacy opened in 1728 and quickly became a symbol of luxury, as only wealthy Kyiv residents could afford its medicines;
  • According to legend, an apothecary fascinated with alchemy once worked here, and the underground chambers still hold traces of his secrets;
  • The museum includes 12 rooms and more than 50,000 items such as 18th–19th century furniture, medical books, tools for making medicines, and a collection of old tincture bottles, plus a historic cash register that still works;
  • The museum also hosts art exhibitions, lectures, tea gatherings and even soap-making workshops;
