Hetmanate Museum
About Hetmanate Museum
The Hetmanate Museum introduces visitors to the period when Ukraine first obtained its own statehood during the age of the Cossacks. Hetmans were the leaders of this state, and the museum explores one of the key chapters of Ukrainian history through their stories.
The museum is housed in a historical building from the late 17th century with 19th-century extensions, which adds authenticity to the exhibition. The collection includes more than 9,000 items such as Cossack weapons, ceremonial regalia, seals, documents and personal belongings of the hetmans, making history tangible through real artefacts rather than dates alone.
The galleries are dedicated to different periods and figures, allowing you to gradually immerse yourself in the era of the Hetmanate. Thematic tours, such as “Cossack Combat” and “Meet the Hetman,” are available by prior arrangement.
Plan around 1 to 1.5 hours for your visit.
The entrance ticket costs 50 UAH, and tours start from 100 UAH.
