Trukhaniv Island
About Trukhaniv Island
Trukhaniv Island is one of Kyiv’s largest green spaces, sitting in the middle of the Dnipro River, opposite Podil and the historic city centre. You can get here on foot via the Park Pedestrian Bridge from the right bank.
The island has several beaches, sports facilities, cycling routes, and plenty of space to unwind. It’s an easy escape from the busy city streets, whether you’re coming for a bike ride, a picnic, or a few hours by the water.
Things to do on Trukhaniv Island
- Spend time at the beach. Central Beach is a short walk from the pedestrian bridge. Bring a picnic, soak up some sun, or enjoy the views across the river.
- Explore by bike. A cycling route crosses the island towards the Northern Bridge, passing through wooded areas and along the river.
- Go for a walk or run. Follow the paved paths, explore the woodland trails, or take a stroll along the Dnipro.
- Enjoy the outdoors year-round. Pack a picnic in spring or summer, enjoy the autumn colours, or take a quiet winter walk along the river.
You can also combine your visit with a stroll around Poshtova Square or Volodymyrska Hill, where you’ll find some lovely views over the Dnipro.
Kyiv’s official beach season did not open in 2026 due to the ongoing war. If an air raid alert sounds, leave the riverside and head to the nearest designated shelter.
