Museum of Kyiv History
About Museum of Kyiv History
The Museum of Kyiv History traces how the city has evolved over fifteen centuries — from a fortified medieval settlement to a modern capital. It is the largest municipal museum collection in Kyiv, bringing together archaeology, art, everyday objects, interiors from past eras and belongings of people who shaped the city’s history.
Its holdings include more than 280,000 items, such as:
- Archaeological finds from the Kyivan Rus’ period
- Recreated interiors of a noble family’s salon, a music room and an early 20th-century shoemaker’s workshop
- Personal belongings of notable Kyiv residents, including aircraft designer Oleh Antonov
- A collection of paintings
The museum is also an active exhibition space, regularly hosting contemporary art projects, thematic displays and events for both children and adults.
The building is located in central Kyiv, just a few minutes from Teatralna metro station. It’s a convenient point to start or continue a walk — you can head to the Lesia Ukrainka Drama Theatre or make your way toward Khreshchatyk.
Ticket price: from 100 UAH.
