About Lesia Ukrainka Theater

Lesia Ukrainka Theater is one of Kyiv’s oldest drama theaters, set right in the city centre next to Teatralna metro station. The building dates back to 1891 and originally housed the city’s first permanent theater, once known as the Bergogne House. It was later named after the Ukrainian writer Lesia Ukrainka whose plays The Forest Song and The Stone Host became the theater’s signature productions.

Today the theater stages world classics from Shakespeare and Wilde to Miller, along with works by Ukrainian authors including Lesia Ukrainka, Ivan Franko and contemporary playwrights. The troupe also tours abroad, where performances continue in Ukrainian and regularly play to full houses.

Tickets are available online or at the box office, usually starting from around 250 UAH.

Right next to the theater you’ll find popular places to eat such as Mama Manana and Musafir, perfect for discussing the show afterwards.
