Messenger of Life
About Messenger of Life
The Messenger of Life mural covers the wall of a building in a small courtyard at 9 Reitarska Street. It shows a flock of black crows with one white bird among them. According to the artist, Oleksandr Britz from Donetsk, the white crow symbolises new beginnings and good news, while the black crows stand for wisdom.
The idea for the mural came unexpectedly. One winter day, Oleksandr noticed crows against the white snow and wondered whether albino crows existed at all. It turned out they do, although they are extremely rare. This discovery led him to see the white crow as a symbol of new life.
The location was chosen with care. The courtyard is home to a small enclosure with real crows, which adds an extra layer of meaning to the artwork. You’ll also find the Kashtan café and OG Burger here — a nice spot to grab a coffee or a meal while enjoying the mural.
