Government House of Ukraine
About Government House of Ukraine
The Government House of Ukraine is located in Kyiv’s government quarter at 12/2 Mykhaila Hrushevskoho Street, next to the Verkhovna Rada and Mariinsky Park.
Since 1991, it has served as the headquarters of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the country’s highest executive authority.
The 10-story building was constructed between 1936 and 1938 to a design by architects Ivan Fomin and Pavlo Abrosimov. Its total area is approximately 235,000 m². For nearly 15 years after its completion, it was the tallest building in Kyiv.
The building is known for its monumental scale and curved facade, both characteristic of Soviet architecture of the 1930s. Until the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, it also housed the Museum of the History of the Governments of Ukraine, covering the history of Ukrainian governments from 1917 onward.
In September 2025, the building was damaged during a Russian attack on Kyiv. It continues to serve as the seat of the Ukrainian government.
