Kyiv curfew hours, what the rules mean in practice, and what visitors should know.
Due to martial law, a curfew is in effect in most regions of Ukraine. During curfew hours, you are not allowed to be outside without a special permit, except in certain circumstances.
From September 10, 2026, Kyiv’s curfew will run from 1:00 am to 5:00 am. Previously, it ran from midnight to 5:00 AM.

Curfew rules in Kyiv
The main rule is simple: during curfew, you should stay indoors.
You can only go outside without a special permit in emergencies, for example:
- To get to a shelter during an air raid alert;
- to reach a Point of Invincibility;
- to get home from the railway station if your train was delayed and arrived in Kyiv after midnight. This can sometimes happen because of missile attacks or power outages.
If you need to go outside between 1:00 am and 5:00 am, carry an ID and be prepared to explain your situation to law enforcement officers patrolling the streets. If you violate the curfew without a valid reason, you may be detained or fined.
How Kyiv Operates During Curfew
Starting September 10, Kyiv’s curfew will run from 1:00 AM to 5:00 AM, and public transport will operate about an hour later than before.
- Metro: stations will stay open until around midnight, rather than 11:00 PM.
- Buses, trolleybuses and trams: most routes will run past 11:30 PM, around a quarter will continue after midnight, and some of the busiest routes will run until approximately 12:30 AM.
- Most restaurants, shops, pharmacies, and other businesses will keep their current opening hours and generally close by 10:00 PM.
- During the curfew, Bolt and Uklon provide limited taxi services for emergency trips. Fares typically increase later in the evening.
If you’re planning to stay out late, check your venue’s opening hours and the latest metro and public transport schedules before heading out.
If Your Train Arrives During Curfew
Starting September 10, Kyiv will introduce four special bus routes from Kyiv Central Railway Station for passengers whose trains are delayed by prolonged air raid alerts and arrive after curfew has begun.
These buses will operate between 1:00 am and 5:00 am. Keep your train ticket with you as proof of your journey.

How to Check for Curfew Updates
Curfew hours can change depending on the security situation and decisions by the city authorities. From September 10, 2026, the curfew in Kyiv will run from 1:00 am to 5:00 am.
