Where to shop in Kyiv: store hours, prices and local shopping tips
Shopping in Kyiv is diverse and full of life. In the city center, you’ll find brand showrooms, vintage and souvenir shops, while outside it are shopping malls with entertainment parks, cinemas, and food courts.
In warmer months, the city draws you to fairs and markets for fresh produce, flowers, honey, and a taste of local character. And if you’re in the mood for adventure, head to thrift shops and flea markets. You never know what you’ll find there — including some memorable stories.

Yes. Most shops and venues in Kyiv accept cashless payments — by card, phone, or smartwatch. Even markets and small local shops usually have card terminals.
That said, it’s a good idea to carry at least 1,000 UAH in cash for tips, minibuses (marshrutkas), or in case payment terminals are temporarily unavailable during power outages.
No. Only the Ukrainian hryvnia (₴, UAH) is accepted — it’s the country’s official currency.
All shopping malls close until the alert is lifted. Smaller shops often remain open, but this depends on the owner and staff.
From midnight to 5:00 a.m., everything is closed due to curfew.
- Shopping malls: usually open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Supermarkets: typically from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Clothing, accessory, cosmetics, and souvenir shops: generally open from 9:00–10:00 a.m. to 7:00–9:00 p.m.; some may have days off.
Most stores are also open on Sundays.
However, everything is closed from midnight to 5:00 a.m. due to the city’s curfew.
Bargaining is common at food markets, flea markets, and with souvenir vendors on Andriivskyi Descent. In shops and shopping malls, prices are fixed and bargaining is not customary.
Ukraine mainly uses the European (EU) sizing system. In stores of international brands, you’ll often also see standard international sizes such as S, M, L, and XL.
