About Ivan Franko Theater

Ivan Franko National Drama Theater is a true phenomenon of the city’s cultural scene. Its shows play to full houses season after season, and tickets often disappear within hours.

The repertoire ranges from Ukrainian classics to bold contemporary productions. One of its most talked-about performances is “The Konotop Witch” by Ukrainian director Ivan Uryvskyi – a mix of mysticism, comedy and inventive staging that created a real sensation. At its premiere, Kyiv residents queued for hours along the historic streets surrounding the theater to buy tickets, and after success in Kyiv “The Konotop Witch” even toured across Europe.

Another audience favourite, “The Kaidash Family”, has remained in the repertoire for more than 18 years and still fills the house every time. Other acclaimed titles include “Caligula”, “Macbeth” and “Tartuffe”.

Tickets sell quickly, so it’s best to book as soon as new dates appear on the theater’s website. Prices usually range from 200 to 1,000 UAH, with premium seats for the most popular shows going up to about 3,000 UAH.
