The Dnipro River
About Dnipro River
The Dnipro is Ukraine’s largest river and the waterway that splits Kyiv into the Right and Left Banks while shaping many of the city’s most iconic views. It was in its waters that Prince Volodymyr baptised Kyivan Rus’ in 988. You can admire the river and its famous slopes from Park of Eternal Glory, the Glass Footbridge and many other viewpoints.
The Dnipro offers lots of ways to spend time in Kyiv:
- Active fun. Wakeboarding and SUP schools operate in several bays, along with equipment rentals.
- Beaches and islands. Trukhaniv Island and Hydropark are home to wide sandy beaches and plenty of places to relax — perfect for sunbathing in summer.
- On the water. Full-scale river cruises are currently suspended due to martial law, but you can still book a yacht trip through some of the river’s quieter bays.
