About Kyn-Hrust Park

Kyn-Hrust Park is one of Kyiv’s most atmospheric green spaces, a place where you suddenly feel as if you’ve left the city behind and stepped into a real forest. Its name comes from an old legend: a noblewoman supposedly told her sad companion “kyn’ hrust” — literally “cast away your sorrow” — hinting at the calming power of the landscape. Since then, locals have believed the park has a way of restoring inner peace.

What makes the park special is how natural it feels. There are no fences, paved paths or decorative flowerbeds — just a wild landscape that blends woodland, meadow areas and old garden plots. The highlight is an oak grove with more than 200-year-old trees, alongside pines and larches that have been growing here for around 150 years.

It’s a lovely place for a quiet walk, alone or with family. There are children’s and sports areas, and by the ponds you can often spot ducks and swans.

Getting here is easy: it’s about a 15–20-minute ride by public transport from Minska metro station.
