Kyiv Digital (Київ Цифровий)
Kyiv Digital is the main app you’ll need while in Kyiv. It allows you to pay for public transport, receive air raid alerts, check power outage schedules, track public transport routes, and much more. You can register with a phone number from any country — a Ukrainian SIM card is not required. An English version of the app is available.
Here are the main features of Kyiv Digital that will be useful for visitors:
-
- Paying for transport
In the app, you can buy a single QR ticket, valid for the metro, trolleybuses, buses, and trams. Linking a bank card is not required — you can pay using Google Pay or Apple Pay. After purchasing, you must validate the QR ticket by scanning it at one of the validators inside the vehicle.
City Services → City Mobility → QR Tickets
Another way to pay for your ride is by scanning the QR code inside the vehicle using the “Pay for transport” feature in the app. This is handy when the vehicle is crowded and it’s difficult to reach the validator with your QR ticket.
This payment option is available on trolleybuses, buses, and trams. You can pay using Google Pay or Apple Pay. After payment, a confirmation of the transaction will appear in the app.
City Services → City Mobility → Fare Payment
- Air raid alerts and bomb shelter map
Kyiv Digital notifies users when an air raid alert is announced and when it ends. The app also features an up-to-date map of shelters in case of an air raid, as well as a map of Invincibility Points (special heated hubs with electricity) in case of blackouts.
City Services → Helpful Info → Bomb Shelters
- Power outage schedules (available only in the Ukrainian-language version of the app)
Following Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy system, Kyiv occasionally experiences scheduled or emergency power outages. To prepare, you can add your address under the “ДТЕК світло” (DTEK Light) section and get a personalized schedule showing expected outages by day of the week. The app will also send notifications about the start and end of a scheduled outage about 20–30 minutes in advance.
There are no schedules for emergency outages, but you’ll still receive alerts when they happen.
Міські сервіси → Комунальні послуги → ДТЕК Світло(City Services → Utilities → DTEK Light)
To quickly check whether outages are expected on a specific day, look for the “Стан енергосистеми” (Energy System Status) indicator on the app’s main screen:
- Green – no outages planned
- Yellow – no outages planned, but please use electricity sparingly
- Red – energy shortage, outages are active
Міські сервіси → Комунальні послуги → Стан електросистеми
(City Services → Public Utilities → Energy System Status)
- Public transport routes
The “Public Transport” service helps you easily plan your trips around Kyiv by public transport.
- Select a stop on the map — you’ll see which routes pass through it and when the next trolleybus, bus, or tram is expected to arrive. Please note that real-time tracking is not available for marshrutkas.
- Select a route number — and you’ll see the full route mapped out in both directions, all stops along the way, available transfers to other public transport, and the fare. For buses, trolleybuses, and trams, you’ll also see live markers showing where the vehicles are currently located.
- Metro lines are also marked on the map. Select a metro station — you’ll see its opening hours, train intervals, the list of stations along the line, and available ground transport connections at each station.
- You can also buy a QR ticket by tapping the QR code icon in the top-right corner of the map.
City Services → City Mobility → Public Transport
- Air quality and weather
On the main screen of the app, you’ll find a widget showing the current weather and air quality in the city — it’s a good idea to check it when planning a walk or any outdoor activities.Kyiv Digital also sends alerts when air quality temporarily worsens and it’s better to stay indoors, as well as notifications when conditions improve.
- Other useful features for visitors
- Public restroom map(in the Ukrainian-language version only): Міські сервіси → Мапи → Мапа вбиралень (City Services → Maps → Restroom Map).
- Hourly parking and parking passes — handy if you’ve rented a car. You can pay for parking by the hour or purchase a monthly pass (the cost depends on which city zones are included). City Services → For Drivers → Parking.

Air Alert! (Повітряна тривога)
This app notifies users about various types of danger: threats of street fighting, artillery shelling, chemical hazards, radiation risks, air raid alerts, and natural disasters — and provides instructions on what to do in each situation.
What you need to know about the app:
- Works across Ukraine: to receive alerts specifically for Kyiv, you need to select it from the list of regions on the app’s main screen. You can add multiple regions at once — for example, Kyiv Oblast if you’re renting accommodation there, and Kyiv if you’re spending time in the city.
- No registration required: the app doesn’t require creating an account, nor does it collect personal data or track your location. You can optionally allow location access to receive additional alerts specific to the area of Kyiv where you are.
- Increased threat notifications: for example, if an air raid alert is declared across all of Ukraine, but missiles are specifically heading toward the Kyiv region, the app will send an additional alert about the higher risk.
- Customizable alerts: adjust the volume for alerts about the start and end of an air raid, as well as for increased threats. You can also choose the language and voice for the danger announcements.
Additionally, the app supports critical alerts. If they are enabled in your phone settings, air raid notifications will sound at maximum volume, even if your phone is muted. If they’re disabled, notifications will follow your regular sound settings. - Air raid alert map: shows the current status of alerts across Ukraine, using different colors for different types of threats. Tap on any region to view its recent alert history.

Taxi apps
International taxi services like Uber and Bolt operate in Kyiv, along with the local service Uklon (which allows registration with a foreign phone number and offers an English-language interface).
All three work the same way: set your route in the app, view the fare in advance, and wait for your driver to arrive.
Apps for renting e-scooters and bicycles
Popular e-scooter rental services in Kyiv include Bolt, Zelektra, Jet, and Bike Now — the latter also offers bicycles for rent.
All services have their own mobile apps, allowing you to rent a vehicle, pay by card, register with a phone number from any country, and switch the language to English.
Food delivery apps
The most popular food delivery services in Kyiv are Bolt Food and Glovo. Many restaurants also offer their own delivery services by courier or taxi.
In Glovo, you can also order groceries from supermarkets, household goods, personal care items, flowers, pet supplies, and over-the-counter medications from pharmacies.
