Kyiv Bus Stations
Kyiv has more than 20 bus stations, but travelers only need to know a few of the main ones that handle most routes. Below is a practical overview of five key bus stations in Kyiv, with useful tips.

Central Bus Station
The Central Bus Station is the city’s main and largest bus terminal, located next to Demiivska metro station. Buses depart from here to all regions of Ukraine, as well as international destinations across Europe, including Poland, the Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, and Germany.
If you’re arriving in Ukraine by bus from Europe, there’s a good chance this will be your arrival point.
On site you’ll find everything you need:
- Fast food (KFC, McDonald’s), coffee shops, and bakeries;
- A pharmacy and currency exchange;
- Mobile operator stores (Vodafone and lifecell);
- Luggage storage and waiting areas.
There is also the Kyivpasservis Hotel on the station grounds — a simple hotel with basic amenities. It offers both hostel-style shared rooms and private rooms. Prices usually range from 500 to 1500 UAH per night, depending on room type.
Address: Nauky Avenue, 1/2 (Demiivska metro station).
“Kyiv” Bus Station
“Kyiv” Bus Station is about a 7-minute walk from the Central Railway Station. It serves both domestic and international routes and is a convenient transfer point between trains and buses — especially now that Kyiv’s airports are closed.
There is no full terminal building here. If you have a long wait, it’s more comfortable to use the waiting halls inside the railway station nearby.
Near the platforms you’ll find:
- Ticket offices;
- Food and drink kiosks;
- A supermarket.
There are also many cafés, restaurants, bars, hotels, and hostels within walking distance.
Address: Symona Petliury Street, 32 (Vokzalna metro station).
Other bus stations in Kyiv
Besides the two main bus stations, Kyiv has several smaller ones that are useful mainly for domestic travel within Ukraine.
Pivdenna Bus Station
Serves domestic routes toward the south and southwest. From here you can travel to cities such as Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Uman.
Address: Akademika Hlushkova Avenue, 6 (Ipodrom metro station).
Darnytsia Bus Station
Primarily serves routes toward the east and northeast. Buses run from here to Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, Kharkiv, and other cities in eastern and northern Ukraine.
Address: Leonida Kadenyuka Avenue, 1 (Darnytsia metro station).
Vydubychi Bus Station
Handles domestic and transit routes. It’s a convenient departure point for trips toward Bila Tserkva, Cherkasy, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and other cities in central and southeastern Ukraine.
Address: Zaliznychne Highway, 10A (Vydubychi metro station).
How to buy bus tickets in Kyiv
Bus tickets can be purchased:
- Online on the Kyivpasservis website;
- At ticket offices at bus stations;
- On carrier websites;
- In cash from the driver.
Domestic tickets are often available even on the day of travel. For international routes, it’s better to book 2–3 weeks in advance, especially for busy dates.
How bus stations operate during an air raid alert
During an air raid alert, bus stations continue to operate: buses still arrive and depart, and ticket offices stay open. However, some cafés or shops on site may temporarily close.
Passengers are advised to move to the nearest shelter during an alert, which is often a nearby metro station.
Are delays possible?
As anywhere, bus delays do happen from time to time, especially during periods of heightened security risk. You can check live departure boards on the Kyivpasservis website.
Refund and compensation rules depend on the individual carrier, so it’s best to review them before your trip.
