St. Andrew’s Church
A baroque-style church with stunning city views
About St. Andrew’s Church
St. Andrew’s Church is one of the most striking examples of 18th-century Baroque architecture in Kyiv. It was designed by renowned Italian architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli and built between 1747 and 1753. Located on Andriivskyi Descent, the church is both a religious landmark and a true architectural gem. Its viewing platform offers sweeping views of the city. Today, the church also functions as a museum and a concert venue for the National House of Music.
Why visit St. Andrew’s Church
- The church impresses with its grandeur: lavish gilded iconostases, frescoes, decorative elements, and paintings captivate even those who don’t typically visit religious sites.
- From the viewing platform, you’ll get panoramic views of the Dnipro River, the Podil district, and Kyiv’s historic quarters — a perfect spot for photos.
- The church stands at the top of Andriivskyi Descent, one of the most atmospheric streets in the city, lined with art galleries, souvenir shops, and cozy cafés.
